New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music

Museum on Main Street is bringing a traveling Smithsonian Exhibition – New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music – to Mississippi for a second tour beginning in April 2011 through January 2012. The tour will visit six communities around Mississippi. Exhibit sites include:

New Harmonies explores the roots of American music - telling the story of its people and culture through the melodies that define it. The exhibition provides a fascinating, inspiring and toe-tapping listen to the American story of multi-cultural exchange. Each host city also presents exhibits and programs featuring the local roots music of their own communities.
