Summary:
From the pyramids of Egypt to the ambience of Americas historic Main Streets, we are in the process of recovering an awareness that history is more than simply facts in a book. This slide-illustrated presentation explores our fascination with history in many forms. It also suggests that preservation is not so much about merely saving old buildings and artifacts as it is about recovering something that has been lost, that is, its concern with the broadening of horizons that calls us to higher levels of understanding and moral engagement.

Speakers Expertise:
Jack D. Elliott, Jr. is the Historical Archaeologist for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
