Summary:
The author will offer a fictional account of historical realism of life on the Texas frontier from 1853 to 1866; army fort life, the wonders of camels at Camp Verde, the political and social forces on family life, guerilla warfare, the emergence of the Civil War, the last battle of the Civil War and last man killed at Palmito Hill near Brownsville, Texas, one month after the war was officially over.

Speakers Expertise:
M. Selby Parker Sr. is a former chief of vocational rehabilitation and counseling with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Parker is a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and attended Carr Central High School. He was awarded a doctorate of education and master of arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and bachelor of science from Mississippi State University. Among his published works are the "Man From Bandera" and his latest work, "Scopophilia. Dr. Parker has traveled Europe, the West Indies and South America. He is a former youth court counselor, college educator and counseling psychologist.
