He particularly addresses the forgotten aspects of the war, such as the campaign in north mississippi. In his discussion of the Battle of Franklin, TN, he compares it to Pickett's charge and discusses what led up to the battle and why the slaughter of Confederates happened.
Speakers Expertise:
Ballard has published nine books, eight on the Civil War, including a major work with the University of North Carolina Press on Vicksburg. He is conducting research for a book on the Battle of Franklin, TN, -- he is a descendant of a soldier in the battle.
