2008 Humanities Educator Award

Pictured left to right are CIS staff Takisha Bishop, Margaret Buchanan, CIS Director Rep. Linda Whittington and Bob Neill.

The Humanities Educator Award this year went to an organization whose work moves beyond the classroom and uses innovative techniques and formats to reach a wide audience with the ideas and techniques of the humanities. In recognizing the Communities in Schools of Greenwood Leflore, Inc. (CIS) for this year's award, the committee cites their success in hosting multiple Mississippi Humanities Council Family Reading Bonds programs in the Mississippi Delta.
