America250 Mississippi: Keepers of the Coast: Preserving Black History at the Pleasant Reed House
June 19
Keepers of the Coast: Preserving Black History at the Pleasant Reed House OOMA will update the Pleasant Reed House into an accessible, permanent learning hub for Biloxi’s Black history. Funding restores the historic front door, builds three film rooms, completes ADA-forward A/V, and finishes the Joys & Blues of East Biloxi documentary. The rooms will loop three shorts—City Within a City, The Biloxi Wade-Ins, and Joys & Blues. Launching with MLK Day and Juneteenth programs, these upgrades create daily, barrier-free access for visitors, students, and elders year-round.
