HTA: From Slidell to Saudi

Humanities Teacher Award winner Amy Gazzo (Southwest Mississippi Community College) will present her public lecture, “From Slidell to Saudi.” Reception to follow.

“From Slidell to Saudi” describes the years when the presenter, Amy Gazzo, lived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  The presentation includes an overview of the Muslim culture focusing on their faith, traditions, and food and how a then seventeen year old, Southern girl faced living by this new set of standards.  It is a personal narrative of her challenges, joys, and adaptation to a new world.
